Anybody who flies or sails, knows well what it means driving 50 Km to the site, just to discover that there is no wind or too much wind coming from the wrong direction. Anybody has a telephone, and this is the only thing needed to call a meteo station based on our TCS board, to know wind speed, wind direction and temperature. With a GSM phone you can even receive a SMS with the meteo data.

Cusercoli autonomous GSM weather station Anybody who does a sport that relies on weather conditions like flying or sailing, knows very well what it means to drive 50 Km to the site, just to discover that it can't be done. I personally realized this when I took my paragliding course in 1994. We flew from different locations in the area of Castelluccio di Norcia, and I remember that just at a few miles distance the weather conditions could be really different. I quit flying because I am now putting the extra time into these web pages (and more), but our software Engineer Maurizio Tolfa still does it. During spring and summer he enjoys to shut down the computer for a while and to go paragliding. To avoid useless trips he set up the meteo station in the picture with our TCS board, so he can call it and listen to wind speed, wind direction and temperature before moving. The place where the station is installed is called Cusercoli and you can see the take-off site in the picture. This is a useful application but many others are possible, including Sailing clubs, Beach bars and more. Anybody has a telephone, and this is the only thing needed to call a station equipped with our TCS 2.0 with the GSM Siemens M20 module. Of course this can be a SMS meteo station, sending an SMS with meteo data to whom sends an SMS to the station number.
